Academics
Kindergarten
Kindergarten is the first opportunity for children to begin to understand that school is a place for learning and working. They will learn about sharing, taking turns, respecting the rights of others, and taking care of themselves.
The Laligurans Kindergarten offers a pre-school, progressive and child centered education to the children of ages 2 years to 5 years old. Managed by highly dedicated team, the pre-school has been promoting a variety of choices of teaching-learning activities designed to encourage physical skills, cognitive learning, literacy acquisition, problem solving and independent thought.
Our preschool curriculum consists of the following six areas:
- communication, language, reading and writing
- numeracy and mathematical development
- personal, social and emotional development
- knowledge and understanding of the world
- creative development
- physical development
Laligurans Kindergarten is a place of reflective, intentional teaching and learning. Our interest in research, generated from within our school as well as from academia, is the foundation of our practice. Through our ongoing reflective process, our understandings evolve and deepen. In collaboration with teachers, children, parents and the community, we are committed to the promise of all children.
Elementary
Our elementary school serves children in Early Childhood to grade 5. Laligurans Elementary sees its purpose as being responsible for providing a well-rounded educational experience in a community that is safe and welcoming. We invite you to review the materials available on our website to learn more about who we are and the opportunities available at laligurans.
Students are encouraged to appreciate the host country culture and to look for opportunities to serve and care for the people and environment around them. Opportunities to live out are provided through yearly community and service activities and as part of the curriculum. Students are frequently involved in curriculum related field trips and opportunities to learn from experts within the community.
Secondary
Secondary School offers a dynamic, academically rigorous and holistic curriculum aimed to prepare students to become life-long learners. To balance their academic program, students take part in a range of extra-curricular activities, sporting, musical and dramatic events. They are related to our school philosophy which places the needs of others, a culture of service and care at its core. Service and Action are an integral part of the Laligurans curriculum.
Secondary students are encouraged to become leaders. There are many opportunities for Secondary students to undertake roles of responsibility and leadership within the program and also through student-led initiatives.
As students move through this last phase of their secondary education at Laligurans there is increased emphasis on the accomplishment of the skills necessary for success at the post secondary level. Teaching strategies, and student evaluation, provide a message to the students of the importance of organizational skills, emotional intelligence, and work ethic. Academic feedback and success enable students to discover their learning styles, and prepare for the challenge of the post secondary environment.
